Mica polymer clay workshop

Wed. 28 Jan, 2015 9:30 am - 11:30 am

Mica polymer clay workshop-This workshop is part of the 'Seeing Through Light' exhibition. The subject of the workshop is a reflection on Bharti Kher's work at the exhibition titled 'Redemption is not the only reason to look up into the night sky (2012)'.  Kher uses bindi dots to mask the light reflection from a mirror background creating intricate patterns that evoke radiant cosmos and dense constellations. In this workshop we will use mica polymer clay and dotting tools to create celestial patterns eliciting lights of the cosmos. In this techniques, called mica shift, the dotting tools mask the brilliance of mica particles creating patterns of shadow and light.  Participants will make a coaster to take home decorated with their favorite design.
